But the real star at Bludso’s is the food. Their menu is a carefully curated celebration of smoked meats and comforting Southern classics. The brisket, seasoned with custom dry rubs and smoked slow and low to achieve melt-in-your-mouth tenderness, is a unanimous favorite. The potato salad and baked beans shine as classic Southern staples, while the mac and cheese brings a creamy richness that pairs beautifully with the smoky mains.
Not to be missed are the appetizers like the fried okra, a crispy treat that has earned praise as some of the best in LA, and the smoked jumbo wings that offer a smoky, spicy burst of flavor. For a decadent twist, the brisket fries and pulled pork cheese fries provide a satisfying indulgence that's hard to resist.
Bludso’s also stands out with its thoughtful specials like the Family Meal Whole Smoked Chicken, complete with sides and cornbread, making it a fantastic option for sharing or feeding a group without fuss. Online ordering adds a convenient touch for those wanting a taste of this BBQ haven from home.

Fantastic BBQ - I will dream about this place! Had done some research before coming to LA and heard good things about Bludso's. When my Uber driver recommended it as well, I knew I had to try it. Portion size was moderate but didn't leave me hungry. The brisket is a must, as is the spicy BBQ sauce.
The atmosphere is friendly and casual. The service was friendly, yet not pushy. Though they had run out of the pork ribs, they have the best fried okra in LA. the brisket was tender and savory as was the pulled pork. Neither needed the BBQ sause...which was also very tasty.the potatoes salad was above average and the cornbread was sweet without being overly sweet. For a casual night out or a party you can't go wrong.
Just randomly saw this place driving and decided to go in. What a great decision! Upon walking in I was greeted immediately. The atmosphere was great. Lively and happy. It was rather busy. Whole bar was packed and I’d say about 5 tables. It’s not super big inside. But definitely enough room to be comfortable. They do have a full bar as well so that’s a plus! Let’s get into the food. I ordered the pork ribs, Texas hot link, Mac n cheese with baked beans. I opted to try the mild and spicy bbq sauce. Let’s start with the pork ribs. Seasoned very well. And I do mean VERY well. Smoked to absolute perfection. With an excellent seasoned crust. Honestly? You don’t even need to put bbq sauce on it. It’s that good. However I did try both sauces. Mild is definitely more sweet than the hot. But the hot isn’t too spicy either. And I know everyone’s spice levels are different. To me a grilled jalapeño is mild. So figure from there. Moving onto the hot link. Cooked well. Juicy with great taste. Can’t go wrong. The aides. WOW. Ok I would legit come back for just the Mac n cheese if you wanted Mac n cheese. It’s creamy, rich gooey and just excellent. Melded cheddar layer on top. Baked beans. It’s heavy on the mustard. But don’t let that make you stray away. It’s a different taste and it’s well worth the try. I greatly enjoyed them. Overall this piece was a fantastic experience. I will 100% be back. It’s clean, it’s fun, the food is great and the atmosphere is excellent. Food: above average Staff: good people Cleanliness: clean Atmosphere: upbeat, happy and inviting.
Ok, here we go..... Never did I think of eating BBQ in Santa Monica where I live. I travel all over and my favorites have been Texas and Missouri for BBQ. I have drove by this place the last couple of years and didn't give it a second look thinking just another San Mo eatery.... I never thought that I would write a review like this about a BBQ spot right in my hometown of SaMo. Wife and I decided to come here tonite and were greeted by the nicest staff, not pushy but everyone was friendly and warm. We were seated right away and drinks served up fast. We started with the BBQ dry rubbed wings appetizer. Bang! Right outta the blocks my wife was excited and said they were the best; dipping sauce was jammin too. We ordered the combo platter with Brisket and chicken with Cole slaw and Mac and cheese. This is where it starts getting crazy folks.. the Cole slaw was good but my wife and I both agreed that the Mac and Cheese was crazy delicious. The brisket was just awesome. Chicken was moist too and flavored nicely. I ordered the Dino rib and it is an absolute must order. If you don't order this thing your going to be seriously missing out. To top it off the banana pudding is the best I've had as well. All in all, the amount of food we got for the money was very generous. How in the world have I had a BBQ joint sitting right here in my own backyard and it has smoked all the other BBQ joints I have eatin at all over this country!!! That's a huge statement as I do lots of reviews. Mr Bludso, you got it licked my man.. Your staff; top notch from Terry and Oscar to everyone needs to ask for German to be their server. This young man is just the nicest guy and does his job very well. I would highly highly recommend all the food that we had. Everything was absolutely delicious and the staff topped off the dining experience. I don't mind paying for food when it's at the level this place is.
I'm not a big barbecue fan in general, but maaaaaan is this place good. The brisket is absolutely perfect - best I've ever had. The rib tips were excellent, pork ribs were 4/5 stars. Mac and cheese was not as epic as my grandma's but still very good, and I thought the baked beans were among the best I've ever had. My wife, a sorta milquetoast white chick, thought everything was "delicious but a little too spicy." Too much pepper in the rubs for her taste. My daughter agreed with me an can concur that everything was "fire." Very fast and friendly service, $5 valet parking in the back.
If heaven had a drive-thru, I’m convinced it would be Bludso’s BBQ. First off, the seasoned fries—I don’t even know if I should call them fries or magic sticks of happiness. They’re golden, crispy, and the seasoning is perfection—savory with just the right kick, and then that tiny whisper of sugar that sneaks in at the end? Game changer. Sweet-savory fireworks in every bite. The ribs? Juicy, smoky, fall-off-the-bone deliciousness that make you want to lick your fingers and not even apologize for it. And the brisket—oh man, the brisket. Always my favorite cut here, and they nail it every time: tender, flavorful, and cooked like it was made for barbecue royalty. ⭐The vibe inside is just as good as the food. TVs with the latest sports on, an easygoing atmosphere, and staff who are quick, friendly, and clearly know how to keep the good energy rolling. Always enjoy it here at Bludso’s!
We visited on a Saturday afternoon and were initially surprised that it wasn’t very busy. But as we started eating, the place steadily filled up, which reassured us we were in for a good meal. We shared a pretty ambitious spread: two 1/4 lb pork ribs, one dinosaur beef rib, one Texas red hot sausage, half pints of collard greens and coleslaw, and two pieces of cornbread. We definitely overestimated our appetite—especially with the dinosaur beef rib, which ended up being more than we could handle! We’re used to eating a lot of Korean BBQ, but Texas-style BBQ is on another level—heavier, richer, and something we’re still adjusting to. Next time, we’ll probably just try the brisket instead. That said, the flavors were bold and satisfying. While I can’t compare it to authentic Texas BBQ (yet), we really enjoyed what we had. The sides were delicious—seasoned just right—and the cornbread had that perfect balance of soft and hearty. The staff was friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. I’m already looking forward to coming back to try more meats and sides!
Had an awesome experience at Buldso’s BBQ today. My bartender and server, Alex, super friendly and on point with her recommendations. She suggested the brisket fries, and they were incredible. Great service, great food, definitely coming back. 9.999999999/10 cuz nothings perfect but if this wasn’t close!
